CLOSING
UP
It sounds
elementary, but when the building is not in use it should be securely locked.
This means that there must be a well understood and practised closing-up procedure
for locking all doors and windows, with individual employees knowing their
responsibilities.
When locking up at the end of the day, thoroughly check all rooms, especially
the toilets, to make sure that no one is concealed on the premises.
It may also be worthwhile imposing a signing-in and signing-out procedure
so that it is clear who was first to enter the premises in the morning and
who was last to leave at night.
